Collegiate Eight Wins Easily
•'The Prest” Special Service WANGANUL The Wanganui Collegiate crew yesterday outclassed Christ’s College in the schools* annual eights rowing event on the Wanganui river. The Christ’s College crew failed to break the stranglehold that Collegiate has held on this traditional race for the last six years. It finished well-beaten four lengths and a half behind Collegiate. Collegiate never had to fully extend itself to win the 2000-metre event, easing up, by a full 18 seconds. Conditions for the event were excellent, with the river placid, but showers during the race made viewing unpleasant
for the large crowd of spectators. Christ’s College was on its way home from the Lake Karapiro regatta, where Collegiate had won the Maadi Cup for the fifth successive year. Christ’s College also qualified for the 12-crew final of toe Maadi Cup eights on Saturday, but finished well back.
Hole-in-One.— Mrs B. M. Duncan scored a hole-in-one at the fourteenth hole at the Ranglora golf course with a seven Iron. The hole la 110 yards.
