Miss Maria Bueno (Brazil) produced a stream of brilliant strokes to beat Miss Judy Tegart (Australia), 7-5, 6-4 in the women’s singles final at an international tennis tournament in Salisbury on Sunday.
Miss Tegart played with her usual gritty determination, but could not match her opponent’s sparkle. In an all-Australian men’s singles final, K. Fletcher beat O. Davidson 10-8, 6-1 in an uninspiring match.
