Sir,—"Golf Illustrated” is published in England at Is 3d weekly or post-free overseas at £4 4s per annum. A certain large Christchurch book shop charges me £5 7s per annum. The magazines come out by ship and are then posted to me from Christchurch. Postage on the last two copies received by me was 3d, or I]d a copy. I am paying over 2s a copy against the English post-free quote of Is 7d.— Yours, etc, OVERCHARGED. March 24, 1967. [A representative of the firm concealed says that the price a copy is governed by the New Zealand distributor’s price and that the profit margin to the retailer is only the normal amount.] Sir,—May I add my complaint about prices charged by a certain large book store? 1 am a member of a women’s fellowship church group. On display at this group was a book entitled “Where is God?” by Joan Gale Thomas, priced at ss. It was not convenient for all present to purchase the book at this time, but the speaker assured members that the book was on sale at wellknown book stores for ss. So I was dismayed to learn that the price I had to pay was 7s. Your investigation would be appreciated.—Yours, etc, INQUIRER. March 24, 1967.
