Service For Elderly
A senior citizens’ service, which it is hoped will become an annual event, will be held at the Methodist Central Mission on April 9, at 6.30 p.m. This will be preceded by a tea in Friendship House and the service will be held half an earlier than usual to enable the elderly folk to be home at an early hour. The service will be conducted by the superintendent of the mission (the Rev. W. E. Falkingham). The subject is “The Best is Yet to Be.” The Rev. A. E. Vogt, superintendent of the Adelaide Central Mission, which administers Aldersgate Village, a community of more than 500 senior citizens, will share in the service.
The Central Mission Darby and Joan Club, and senior citizens’ clubs in the city have been invited to attend and some of the residents of Wesley Lodge and Hospital will also be present
Engine Derailed. —A 60-ton diesel electric locomotive was derailed in the Avondale railway goods yard yesterday. A soft bank at the side of the track prevented it from toppling on its side.—(P.A.)
