SECURITY INQUIRY
“No Appeal To Ombudsman” (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 31. A report published on Tuesday saying that the University Students’ Association would consider appealing to the Ombudsman as a sequel to the security inquiries in universities last year was incorrect, said the president of the association (Mr R. S. Mountain) today. Mr Mountain said that two motions adopted at the annual meeting of the association in Wellington made no reference to the previous incidents. The first called for a legislative basis for the security service; and the second directed the students’ association to "investigate the desirability of the provision of a right of appeal to an independent body such as the Ombudsman being made against a security file.”
