MOVING OF STOCK
Support For Proposal
A proposal that local authorities be given power to enact by-laws prohibiting the driving of stock, thus enforcing its transport by vehicle, was supported by the council of the Automobile Association (Canterbury) on Tbureday evening.
The national motoring and traffic committee’s report quoted a letter from the Commissioner of Transport (Mr R. J. Polaschek) who said that there was no power for local authorities to require that stock moving through their areas be carried in trucks. Stock eould be confined to stock routes if these existed.
