TRAMPING CLUB
Part In Three Searches
■Three times in the last year, the Christchurch Tramping Club had taken part in search and rescue operations, the president (Mr K. Bartram) said at the club’s annual meeting on Friday night. Among these was the provision of a support party in the Mount Rolleston tragedy.
Other search and rescue activities in which the club participated were an exercise in the Wellington area and several meetings In Christchurch to improve the organisation.
Members had 19-day trips and a choice of 37 week-end trips through the year and club membersihhip increased by almost 20 per cent. Mr W. Dukes, who joined thp club in 1937 and was last year a vice-president of the club, was made a life member. Mr Dukes is a former champion Canterbury walker. Officers elected were.— Patron, Mr B. T. Cocks; president, Mr K. Bartram; vicepresidents, Messrs M. Woodham, N. Tweedie, W. Dukes, D. Henson; dub captain, Mr P. White; lady club captain. Miss J. Shannon; secretary, Miss A. Henderson; treasurer, Mrs M. Vink; editor, Mr D. Williman; auditor, Mr G. White; committee, Messrs R. Vink, G. Manson, E. Saggers, G. Swarbrick, J. Byleveld, B. Manson, and Miss P. Barnard.
