Two Youths Arrested
Two youths were arrested on charges of obstructing the police after an incident in Cathedral square last evening.
A police sergeant asked the driver of a car containing several youths to move it from outside the Chief Post Office about 7.50 p.m. The youths got out of the car and other youths on the footpath and the traffic island began arguing With the sergeant and a constable. A crowd of several hundred filled the corner. The two youths arrested were taken to the police station in a patrol car.
Messrs R, Jones, N. Wills, R. Pitcairn, and A. F. Ross have been elected to the newly-constituted board of the Christchurch Technical Institute to represent unions. The first three are members of the retiring board.
