ACCIDENTS ON ROADS

Four Persons In Hospital

Eleven road accidents occurred in Christchurch yesterday, most in the evening, and four persons were admitted to hospital. Several others were treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged. Miss Elizabeth Crawford, of 33 Ranfurly street, suffered head injuries when knocked down by a vehicle on the pedestrian crossing outside the Christchurch Hospital in Riccarton avenue about 11.45 a.m. She was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where her condition was reported to be satisfactory. Two men on a bicycle were injured in a collision with a car on the corner of the Main North road and Daniels street about 7.30 p.m. Mr N. White, of 39 Uxbridge street, was treated for leg injuries and discharged. Mr M. R. Pimley, of 33 Uxbridge street, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital with leg injuries. His condition was reported to be satisfactory. Mrs M. Maddock, of Yackandah, Victoria, Australia, suffered head injuries in a collision between two cars near Arthur’s Pass in the afternoon. She was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where her condition was reported to be satisfactory.

Mr G. Hood, of 99 Cuthberts road, suffered head and neck injuries in a collision between two cars at the corner of Seaview road and Union street, New Brighton, about 2 p.m. He was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where his condition was reported to be satisfactory.

Two cars rolled over after a collision at the intersection of Selwyn street and Fairfield avenue about 8.30 p.m. Four persons were in the car, but none was taken to hospital.
