RUNNER-UP AGAIN.—The Canterbury pole vaulter, C. F. Stricke, again had to be content with runner-up position in the recent New Zealand championships at Hutt Valley. Here he clears the bar at 12ft 9in, his best vault in the competition but well below his Canterbury record of 13ft 8in. When he masters the art of bending his fibre glass pole to its limit the 15ft mark should not be beyond him.
