Bread Sales Still Down
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 28. Bread sales in Auckland are still down to what they were immediately after subsidies were removed, city bakeries reported today. Most of the loss is attributed to the elimination of waste but some drop is thought to be the result of customer resistance to high prices. The system of ordering bread is reported to have settled down after the initial confusion caused by the cutting out of returns of unsold bread.
