Aldermaston Arrests

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 28. Demonstrators chanted “anarchy,” hurled smokebombs and wrestled with police as 15,000 persons protested against the Vietnam war in Trafalgar Square today. The demonstration was the highlight of this year’s Aldermaston march, the traditional Easter display of British pacifists. But while the main alm of previous marches had been to call, for nuclear disarmament, the war in Vietnam dominated this year’s demonstration—the first since 1963. Several people were arrested after the smoke bombthrowing incident, but do injuries were reported. Delegations from Belgium, South Africa, Italy, France and the United States attended the demonstration.
