Shooting Accidents
Sir, —I take it that “One of Them, Not One of Us,” is a “towny,” as that is just the sort of letter one would expect from them. Farmers in the backblocks have enough trouble now with shooters trespassing, without the help of a letter like his backing them up. There are enough shooting accidents now, and stopping trespassing is the only way to stop a lot of accidents. It will take a long time before some people wake up and see just what silly mugs they are and just how close they come to being shot. The farmers have to bear the cost of all the stock that are
killed, so who can blame them for not letting young men and some older ones on their farms? Certainly, go and ask first. It makes it a lot easier for all concerned.— Yours, etc., ASK FIRST, SHOOT LATER. March 23, 1967.
