Miller, proved himself one of Australia’s greatest stayers for many years when he started a 0 to 4-on favourite and scored a runaway victory In the twe-mlle Sydney Cup at Randwick yesterday. He beat Prince Grant (G. Moore) by six lengths, with Striking Force (K. Langby) two lengths away third. Galilee, after being near the middle of the field early, was in second place entering the
straight. Within the next two furlongs he epreadeagled the field to gain the easiest of wins, recording 3min 21 l-ssec for the two miles. The gelding now has become the first horse to win the Caulfield, Melbourne, and Sydney Cups In one season. His stake Winnings total 168,730 dollars. Some of the biggest bets noted against him yesterday were 6000 dollars to 4000 dollars on, and 7000 dollars to 4000 dollars on (twice).
A betting plunge was made on Prince Grant, but he was not good enough. There were 15 starters in the race, which was seen by a crowd of 50,000 in fine, sunny whether.
