Ettrick Wins At Riverton

GN Z Press Association) RIVERTON. Ettrick, which had finished a good third in the Riverton Cup on Saturday, led all the way in the D. M. Tweedie Memorial Handicap, the feature race and second leg of the T.A.B. double on the second day of the Riverton Racing Club's Easter meeting yesterday. He held off strong challenges from Golden Glen and Caasbridge. which were half a length and half a head back. Golden Glen was second last with three furlongs to rnu and Cassbridge also came from the rear of the field. Macdonald, the top-weight, was three-quarters of a length back, fourth, ahead of Carpenter, who made up a lot of ground in the run home. The first leg, the Southern Champion Hack Handicap, was won by Urban, a stablemate of Ettrick Urban was bracketed with Signaller. Both winners are trained by W. J. Hillis for Mr W. E. Hazlett, of Invercargill. The combination has now won seven races at the Riverton Easter meeting. The weather was fine and the track fast.
