ELINGAMITE WRECK
Information Sought ••The Pres*’’ Special Service AUCKLAND, Mar. 27. One of the divers Involved in the recovery of silver and gold coins from the sunken Elingamite last January is compiling information to write a book on the shipwreck and subsequent salvage work. He is a Wellsford school teacher, Mr W. Doak, who is seeking descendants of survivors and any documents or photographs relating to the shipwreck. He is also interested in previous voyages of the Elingamite. Among those he Is particularly anxious to obtain more information about are a Dr. Goldie, of Auckland: Captain Reid, a marine surveyor; W. Jordan and A. Robinson, raft survivors and friends who were bound for New South Wales; R. Hallamore, a Napier shipping clerk; J. Ralph, Sylvia Park, Auckland; A. Rossie, bridge builder: Captain Atwood, ship’s master; Mr Burkett, first mate; W. Scott, third engineer; Captain Wylie, Lieutenant Commander Dawson and Captain Farquhar, masters of the rescue ships Zealandia, H.M.S. Penguin and Clansman respectively.
