(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) MELBOURNE. A small group of punters, closely connected with the J. B. Cummings stable, were reported to have won mote than 230,000 dollars when Swift General won the Duke of Norfolk Stakes, at Flemington on Saturday. Swift General opened at 12/1, but the punters did not move untfl his price drifted to 15/1. His price was slashed to 7/1 by starting time. Swift General won by a neck from the fast-finiahing Kahlitf. He have a strong pointer last week with a fast-finishing fifth in the St. Leger Stakes. H. White, who rode Khalif, which started favourite at 9/4, said he had a good run all the way and thought he would win a furlong from home ,but Swift General would not give In.
