FIRST WIN
Daughter Of Caduceus Double Cross, a daughter of Caduceus and the smart trotting mare Superfortress, made a successful race debut in the Second Two-year-old Stakes at Addington on Saturday night. Raced by her Hororata breeder, Mr C. E. Blakely, she is trained at Prebbleton by A. M. Purdon. She was driven by D. C. Watts. Goldflake took the lead from Waratah at the seven furlongs, with Double Cross not far away about sixth. Winslow Lady showed speed to be handy to Goldflake and Waratah racing to the straight, with Double Cross, Ascot King and Bewitched also prominent. Double Cross did best over the last 75 yards and won handily by half a length. Goldflake held on for second, a long neck in front of Waratah. There was a neck to Bewitched, which was clear of Ascot King. After another gap came Leading Light and Light Globe, with the remainder down the track. The majority of the field gave ground at the start.
