FLOODING DROPS
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE, March 19. About 1000 people in the flooded Abergowrie district, near Ingham, in North Queensland, are isolated. The bridge over the Herbert river, the district’s only link with Ingham, has been washed away. The damage was revealed when floodwaters dropped yesterday. Motor boats are running a shuttle service across the river with food and essential supplies. Earlier, engineers said that the bridge appeared to be beyond repair. At the height of the flood, it was more than 50ft under water. People in other northern flood areas continued cleaning up yesterday.
