Canine Comfort
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 19. A special toilet for dogs is to be built at Eastbourne, Sussex, for “experimental purposes,” the local borough has announced. It will be erected in a suitable place in an Eastbourne park.
A Town Hali official said that it would be based on a photograph of a dog’s toilet in Sweden.
It would consist of a sandpit, enclosed by a wooden screen, with a sign: “Dogs’ Toilet.” “The notice is for the benefit of people who keep their dogs on a lead,” the official said. “Once it is in operation, dogs runnings loose will soon find it,” he said. Neither the dogs nor their masters will be charged to use the toilets. Last month a similar plan for a dog’s toilet was introduced at Stratford-on-avon.
