The Minister of Defence (Mr Thomson) will arrive in Christchurch this afternoon for an overnight stay. This evening he will attend the Ferrymead Historic Park Queen Carnival and ball. Tomorrow morning he will visit Burnham Military Camp to watch the combined services’ sports tournament. He will return to Wellington in the afternoon.
Mr J. M. McKenzie, chairman of the branch of the Public Service Association, has been appointed secretary of the branch. He will take up his new duties this month. The position was held by Mr A. H. Strong for 20 years.
