TEEN-AGE TITLE

Fifteen-year-old Karen Julie Mackay, of Nelson, was yesterday selected “Teen Princess New Zealand 1967.” Sir Francis Kitts, Mayor of Wellington, announced this at a special luncheon in Wellington, the Press Association reports. Miss Donna Awatere, aged 17, of Auckland, and Miss Elizabeth Anne Latham, aged 16, of Wellington, were the other semi-finalists chosen from 10 district finalists.

The prize is a trip to Chicago by Air New Zealand to compete in the “International Teen Princess” pageant in May, a £2OO wardrobe, a beauty travel kit and a set of records.

When the winner from each country arrives in Chicago she will be outfitted by a leading retail organisation. A teen-age guide will be assigned to each contestant and all the girls will be given cosmetics and hosiery.
