TAUPATA SAILS
The former New Zealand coastal vessel, Taupata, which was recently fitted out at Lyttelton as a refrigerated mother ship with a storage capacity of 5000 cubic feet, left Lyttelton this week for Melbourne.
Commanded by Captain T. Phipps, of Christchurch, the Taupata has a crew of five. She is owned by the newlyformed Liberian registered company of Taupata Fishing Company, Ltd., and will service three crayfish catchers. The sphere of operations has not been disclosed but the catch will be shipped to the United States.
