Good Gallop By Sir Athol “The Press’’ Special Service WINGATUI. Sir Athol showed that he was well forward for an Easter campaign when he worked well at Wingatui yesterday morning. Tahuna. another member of J. S. McKay’s team, also impressed, while Glocca Morra showed fitness for the Caltex Gold Cup at Ashburton. Conditions were ideal. The extreme outside of the course proper was the most popular track. The rest of the fast work was held on the plough. Sir Athol (G. Mee) led all the way for five furlongs to beat his stablemates. Lord Fair <B. P. Kennedy) and Darnburgh (R. McAra). which were clear of Kumai (B. J. Anderton). Sir Athol took Imin Bsec for the distance and cam* his last three in 42sec. Tahuna IP. McKay) and Startler (B. P. Kennedy) gave a dashing display over the brush double. They were then joined by Bunker (G. Mee). Tahuna and Bunker ran clear of Startler at the end of six furlongs in Imin 23sec, the first three furlongs in 41 2-ssec. Glocca Morra (E. J. Didham) took 55sec for an easy halfmile. She has done well since her easy win in the high-weight at Oamaru.
