In Search Of Work
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 16. Unemployment fears are prompting Europeans to seek a better life in Australia and New Zealand. Migrants who arrived in the liner Flavia said in Auckland today that Holland and Germany, two of the most prosperous European nations, were now feeling the effects of over-production. Everybody in these countries who could afford a television set or a car now had them. The consumer markets were saturated and factories were laying off workers.
