New Nauru Talks Soon
(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Mar. 16. No arrangements have been made yet for the next round of talks between the countries involved in the proposed independence of Nauru Island—Britain, Australia. New Zealand and Nauru. A spokesman for the Department of External Affairs said today the talks could be held fairly soon, but there was little likelihood that final arrangements for the island’s independence would be made. The islanders wanted independence by January 1, 1968, but that date was “way out ”
