NO CHILD MARRIAGE

An elght-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl were just about to get married when the women from the rehabilitation section of the Women’s Institute swooped. The women social workers carried off the young eouple as well as a 12-year-old boy and his eight-year-old intended bride ana placed them in a remand home. Then they informed the police. Child marriages have been banned in India for more than 30 years. The four children, who were whisked away on Monday, were returned yesterday by the Ahmedabad City Court to their parents, who gave an undertaking not to arrange any more child marriages-
