Obituary MR L. R. KING
Mr Leslie Robert King, who was well known for his work in local government and community affairs in Rangiora during the last 15 years, died recently at his home in Rangiora. He was aged 69. After a period in the Lands and Survey office at Hokitika Mr King farmed in the Waipara district for about 37 years. He was a member of the Glenmark Anglican Church, of Federated Farmers and of the Waipara School Committee. He served on the Rehabilitation Land Settlement Committee. He was in his fifth term on the Rangiora Borough Council, and was a former DeputyMayor for six years, and chairman of various committees.
Mr King served as chairman of the WaimakaririAshley Hydatid Control Committee for seven years, from its inception until last year. Among other organisations on which Mr King served were the No. 14 District Roads Council and the Canterbury Patriotic Council. Rangiora bodies on which he served included C.0.R.5.0. and the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association.
He is survived by his wife and only son, Mr D. L. King, a lecturer at Lincoln College.
