The Rev. B. Meeking has been appointed liaison officer between the Roman Catholic Diocese of Christchurch and the National Council of Churches, by the Roman Catholic Bishop, the Most Rev. B. P. Ashby. The general secretary of the council (the Rev. D. M. Taylor) said that the council executive had decided to invite Dr. Meeking to attend all of its meetings as an observer.
Dr. Meeking’s appointment is the first of its kind in the history of the National Council of Churches.
