FASTER TIGER
THE Sunbeam Tiger V 8 now x has more power, a higher top speed, and better acceleration.
The Tiger now has a 4.7litre V 8 engine developing 200 b.h.p., and giving a top speed of 125 m.p.h. and a cruising speed of 115 m.p.h. the Rootes Group has announced. The 0 to 60 m.p.h. acceleration time has been reduced to 7.9 seconds. The car will still pull from 20 m.p.h. in top gear.
Externally the new Tiger is recognisable by full-length side flashes and the “honeycomb” radiator grille. The
new model is to be for export only at present, and the 4.2litre model will continue to be the one available to British buyers. The four-speed gearbox has synchromesh on all forward ratios, and an oil cooler is a standard fitting, as is an alternator. Fuel consumption overall is said to be between 18 and 23 m.p.g. The suspension has been modified to improve handling and standard equipment includes reclining seats, adjustable steering column and pedals, walnut fascia and woodrim steering wheel.
