Supardjo To Die (N.Z.P.A. -Reuter—Copyright) SINGAPORE, March 14. A military tribunal in Djakarta last night sentenced Brigadier-General Supardjo to death after finding him guilty on charges of plotting to overthrow the Government by armed force. The chief judge at the end of a three-and-a-half-hour summing-up broadcast live over Radio Djakarta, said:
“The Court has found nothing in favour of the accused, except that he has never been sentenced before” General Supardjo, aged 44, who allegedly led the abortive coup, was sentenced to death by the military tribunal set up by Presidential order after the coup attempt. The judge gave no indication of when or how the sentence would be carried out.
Nor did he say whether Supardjo could appeal.
