INTERESTING NEWCOMER

Ma Jeune For Trentham "The Press" Special Service Wingatui stables had two winners, Palisade and Captain’s Command at the Wellington Racing Club's autumn meeting last year but were without a runner at Trentham last week. They will have a good chance of successful representation on Saturday with the inclusion of the promising two-year-old, Ma Jeune in the Wakefield Challenge Stakes. Her prospects will depend on the manner in which she travels to the meeting. Ma Jeune made a delayed trip to the Wellington Cup meeting in January. A severe attack of boils prevented her from being included in the airlift of horses for the meeting and she did not travel well when taken up for the last day of the meeting.

She ran sixth, but showed her class at her next start when she raced at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s mid-sum-mer meeting on the way home. She was a most impressive winner over six furlongs and from the manner in which she ran out the distance the extra furlong on Saturday should be well within her reach.
