Police Plan Protection (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 15. After recent threats on his life by anonymous telephone callers, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) may receive “limited” police protection at some public functions.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr G. C. Urquhart, said today arrangements for the Prime Minister’s protection were being considered. “When all is said and done, he is the head of state and it is our duty to r-e nothing happens to him," he said. Mr Urquhart confirmed that the Prime Minister was given a “limited” plain-clothes police escort during a recent Auckland visit and said it would be two to three weeks before future security arrangements were decided.
