PRINCESS ENGAGED

Princess Benedikte, the second eldest daughter of the Danish King and Queen, has become engaged to a German, Prince Richard Sayn-Wittgen-stein Berleburg, the Court announced yesterday. Princess Benedikte, a sister of Queen Anne Maria of Greece, is 22. Prince Richard is 32.
Parliament has still to approve the engagement
Princess Benedikte was the only unattached daughter of King Frederick and Queen Ingrid.
The youngest Princess Anne-Marie, married King Constantine of the Hellenes, and the throne heiress. Princess Margrethe, will marry a French diplomat Count Henri de Monpezat on June 10 in Copenhagen. The wartime birth of Princess Benedikte, was greeted with a 21-bomb salute by the Danish resistance movement in defiance of the Nazi occupation forces.
