Southern Maori
Sir,—lf “Racial Equality” would care to cast his mind back to last Saturday, he would realise that the weather was not the type that could be called delightful. The morning was cold and wet, and in the afternoon there was a strong sou’wester blowing. Many of the Maoris eligible to vote no doubt had their own transport, but many more would have had a transport problem, and so I do not blame them for not casting their votes. Would “Racial Equality,” if he were a Maori, have gone out to vote in these conditions? I doubt it.—Yours, etc SOPHOCLES. March 15, 1967.
