COVERAGE BY TV
Olympic Games Decision (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MEXICO CITY, March 14. A $1.25 million contract for television coverage of the 1968 Olympic Games was signed in Mexico City last night by representatives of European communications interests and the Mexican Olympics organisers.
The European Broadcasting Union, covering Western Europe, and Radiodiffusion and Television, covering East Europe, together serve an estimated viewer and radio audience of 250 million people in 23 countries. Direct telecasts from the games will go by landline to the United States, then be transmitted via two communication satellites to receiving stations in Britain, France, Italy and West Germany.
This is the first time East and West Europe have agreed on a contract for Olympic coverage.
