Football Win In London
(N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. The London All Blacks on Sunday won the Verwoerd Trophy when they beat the London Springboks, 24-9, in their annual Rugby match. “The Times” reported. The match was preceded by a Rugby match between New Zealand and South African women. The All Blacks ruled the set scrummages and, although the line-outs were often a shambles, the New Zealanders’ strength lay in their persistent raiding led by B. Tuck, who scored three tries, and P. Gaffikin whose clever kicking brought the side half its points. «
B. Cull, and P. Robin, the able Maori stand-off half, were quicker and more resourceful than their South African counterparts and the New Zealand three-quarters, although not spectacular were always more effective.
