Soprano Leaving

The lunch-time concert arranged by the School of Music of the University of Canterbury for Thursday will be given by Heather Taylor (soprano), William Hawkey (harpsichord) and Roger Buckton (flute). It will be in the nature of a farewell gesture to Mrs Taylor whose regular appearances as a recitalist, as an oratorio soloist and as a broadcaster have been a feature of Christchurch music for several years. She is leaving for England soon. Accompanied by Mr Hawkey, Heather Taylor will sing a selection from “Orpheus Brittanicus” by Purcell. She will also sing Handel’s German songs to words by Brockes, “Meine Seele hort im Sehen,” a setting for soprano, flute obbligato and harpsichord, and some songs by Alessandro Scarlatti.

This performance will be given in the University Hall, starting at 1.10 p.m.
