Malta Deal Opposed
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) VALLETTA, March 14. Malta’s opposition Labour Party last night called on the Prime Minister, George Borg Olivier, to resign for accepting Britain’s package deal on the withdrawal of her forces in Malta. It accused him of betraying Maltese workers, who faced dismissal. A statement, issued after a meeting of the party’s executive and Parliamentary group, accused Dr. Borg Olivier of a “humiliating somersault when, in the space of a few hours, he first rejected then unconditionally accepted the British package deal.” Earlier, Dr. Borg Olivier was given a hero’s welcome when he arrived home from London. He was borne shoul-der-high from the plane and hundreds of cheering Maltese accompanied him in a motorcade into the capital.
