FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An intense anti-cyclone covers much of the Tasman Sea. A strong disturbed south-westerly airstream flows on to southern New Zealand. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds with some cloudy areas at first, but the winds becoming variable during the day; the weather fine but cool. Buller, Westland, Nelson and central Marlborough.—Light or moderate variable winds; fine and becoming mild. Coastal areas of Marlborough.—Fresh southwest winds developing later this morning with cloud increasing and becoming cool. Outlook.—Canterbury: mainly fair. Buller and Westland: fine.
