METHODIST CENTRE
Opening On April 1 The new church centre building for the Durham Street Methodist Church will be opened on April 1 by the Rev. A. K. Petch, 8.A., president of the Methodist Church in New Zealand and a former minister of the Durham street church. Work began on the centre last May. It will serve as a city centre for the church’s ministry. Included in the building is a lounge, office space, and a youth floor with a chapel and a coffee bar. In the front of the building, which will be named Aldersgate, will be a lighted emblem built on the theme of a key, to symbolise the opening of a door to friendship.
The cost of furnishing the building has been largely met by donations which now amount to £1557. There is still work to be done and financed on paths, curtains and children’s chairs and blackboards.
