WAIPUKURAU TODAY Lucky Rebel Picked

"The Press" Special Service HASTINGS. Lucky Rebel, which won the Waipukurau Cup last spring, could resffirm his liking tor the central Hawke’s Bay track by winning the P. F. Wall Memorial Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double at Waipukurau today. Lucky Rebel hes run a succession of good races lately without winning, but he showed when finishing second to Calm Comet in the Napier Gold Cup a week ago that his consistency was about to be rewarded.

The Waipukurau course, with its testing hill along the back and its rise In the straight, does not suit all horses but it suits Lucky Rebel. WltiT-7-19 he Is down to a very handy weight, and although his .opposition is quite good, he is expected to win. The top-weight, Roysl Chase, second to Dalvui in the Jackson Stakes at Wanganui last month, is a first-rate form prospect for the Flying Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double. Besides Lucky Rebel, the field for the Wall Memorial Handicap contains Tarim, Royal Red, which has been racing well enough to be fancied, Otherwise, which won at Gisborne and ran a brilliant trial last Thursday, and Dry Time, an intermediate class winner St Masterton over 11 furlongs. There Is also High Disdain, which was third to Fon and Jen Hai in the Napier Park Leopard Cup. High Disdain Is a solid finisher which should be suited by the Waipukurau track and although his Leopard Cup third was his best showing for a long time, he could at last be on the way to a win.

Apart from Royal Chase, the Flying Handicap prospects include Mssterton winner Allbut, Might. Harry Lauder, Sir Juvante and Silver Sabre. Allbut and Silver Sabre could be the best of them.
