TROTTING Shepherd’s Delight May Win Tonight
Shepherd’s Delight should gain an overdue first win in the First Two-year-old Stakes at Addington Raceway this evening.
She has finished second in her two starts and is one of two horses in the field to have paid a dividend, the other being Forward Star.
Shepherd’s Delight was most impressive at Wasbdyke on February 25, when she failed by a nose to beat the brilliant Good Chase in the Timaru Nursery Stakes. She has drawn wide at No. 12 but that should not stop her winning. Forward Star finished oo strongly for fifth in the New Zealand Kindergarten Stakes at Wyndham on March 4. He has shown plenty of ability.
but is not a very speedy beginner. He should run on better than most in the race and will be a sound place prospect.
Abbey Nelson, a failure at Ms two starts, looks an improved youngster and he could be one of the better prospects. He looks to be mote solid now than earlier and it will not surprise if he is prominent Credo, Khandailah and Seiwyn Hanover have all gone well either at trials or in
their races and they appeal most of the others. Tobias and Lordship appear to dominate the heats of the Easter Cup, wMch form the T.A.B. double. Both are certain to receive spirited opposition. Chequer Board and Cuddle Doon will be among the hardest for Tobias to beat, and Buchanan and
Fieider should be capable of making Lordship work hard. Thu on-course concession doubts will be run on . the heats of the New Zealand Trotting Championship, Glen Dee and Le Chant forming a likely combination. Fine weather is forecast and the track Will be fast
