(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Mar. 13. Members of the Campaign Against Rising Prices in New Zealand plan to hold a conference in Auckland later this month to elect a national executive. They will discuss registration of C.A.R.P. as a society and formulate a firm policy. At a public meeting in Ro-
torua yesterday, Mrs F. A. Humphries, head of C.A.R.P. in Auckland, urged executive members from all centres to attend the conference. The popularity of C.A.R.P. had snowballed so quickly that the Auckland committee had been accepted as a national committee she said. The meeting was convened by Rotorua’s C.A.R.P. committee. Mrs Humphries outlined to the 65 housewives at the meeting the aims oi CA.R.P. in forming a united band of housewives and mothers on a national scale to press for a better standard of living. Rotorua’s C.A.R.P. committee is considering extending its list of boycotted products which at present includes sweet biscuits, pies, and school lunches that have been increased in price. Auckland CAJLP. mem-
bers also boycott soap powders, detergents and shampoos, and canned, frozen and dehydrated foods marked by a large Petone firm. A petition, circulating in Rotorua seeking support for C.A.R.P.’s aims, has gathered 2000 signatures. This will be presented to Parliament.
