Market Continues Rise In Light Trading
The market continued the rising trend of the last two weeks on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, but trading was light and the range narrow.
Key stocks were about in balance, and so was the overseas list. In the New Zealand list there were 14 rises against 11 falls. Falls were narrow, but some good rises were chalked up. K.P. N.Z. Drugs recovered Is to sell «t 35s in Dunedin. Skellerup Industry rose 2s 6d to 53s—its highest price since August last year—and G. H. Scales firmed 9d to 44s 3d.
New Zealand Refining again sold 3d higher at 44s 6d, National Insurance added 6d to 24s 6d, and Hay’s sold 3d up at 17s 3d. Southland Frozen Meat regained 3d to 17s 9d, and Prestige, at 10s 6d, and Wright Stephenson, at 13s 3d, each rose Id. In the overseas list Amalgamated Wireless rose 5d to
i 17s 8d and C.S.R. N.Z. added . 3d to 24s 3d, but Mount Isa lost fid to 345. Among leading stocks that ! declined were South British : Insurance, down 6d to 28s,
N.Z. Forest Products, 2d lower at 20s Id and Rothmans, down 3d to 23s 6d. Zip Holdings fell another 2d to 6s 3d, and B.N.Z. Finance lost 3d to 12s.
