BARTHOLOMEW TIMBERS
Rise In Sales, Profit Steady (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Mar. 13. Profit of Bartholomew Timbers, Ltd., Hamilton, in the six months to January 31 was about the same as that in the corresponding period of the previous year, the chairman (Mr L. N. Ross) says in the Interim report Sales showed a further increase, but production costs of timber were slightly higher because of the policy of purchasing logs to supplement supplies from the company’s forests. Land development and subdivision are progressing steadily and demand for housing is still strong, Mr Ross says. Finance is a limiting factor, and while the present position is satisfactory, the future is largely dependent on the general economic situation and Government policy. A steady interim dividend of 4 per cent is payable on April 6; ex April 1. Total last year was 8 per cent
