Morris Wins At Speedway

The Auckland speedcar driver, T. Morris (Linkwater Holden), won the Rothmans feature’scratch event of six laps by two car lengths after an interesting duel with T. Hall (Holden) at the Templeton speedway last evening.

Morris, who was making his second invitation appearance at Templeton, led from the start, but Hall stayed close behind him. The other two scratch events were won comfortably by Morris, who was third in the recent world championships. R. Clive (Ford B 4) severely tested the superior cars of Morris and Hall and in the last water race managed to beat Hall. The Auckand motor-cycle sidecar team made a clean sweep ot the four events, winning by 21 points to two against the Canterbury team. This reversed their performance in the previous encounter when the Canterbury three won narrowly.

Unfortunately for Canterbury B. Philip went out In the' first race with mechanical trouble and B. Winstone did not start. In the second race the fast

Auckland team ot B. Evan* and his passenger, P. Tribble, broke the race record for side-cars in a four-lap event. This team won the first race but the other two were won comfortably by the Auckland pair, B, Buckley and B. Antmann.
