Mr E. S. F. Holland Seeks Fendalton Nomination

Mr E. S. F. Holland, aged 44, a Christchurch businessman and son of a former Prime Minister, Sir Sidney Holland, has been nominated for selection as the National Party candidate for Fendalton in the by-election to be held on April 15.

Mr Holland is a former chairman of the Fendalton electorate committee of the National Party, a former

deputy-chairman of the Can-terbury-Westland division of the party, and a former member of the Dominion council of the party. His father was member of Parliament for Fendalton until his retirement from politics in 1957.

The second supplementary roll for the Fendalton electorate will contain about 900 names when it closes this afternoon.

The Registrar of Electors (Mr F. G. Elsmore) expects a total roll of more than 20,000. The main roll has 18,135 names, and the first supplementary roll 2067 names.

Mr Elsmore said that those now qualified to enrol should do so today if they wanted to vote in the by-election. Those who had become 21 since the last General Election and those qualified to enrol by reason of three months’ residence in the electorate must be on the roll by today. Persons who turned 21 after today and before the byelection were entitled to vote, but should enrol as soon as they turned 21. Facilities for enrolment were available at the Registrar’s office in “The Press” building in Cathedral square.
