Hormone Used On Calves (N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) ARNHEM (Holland), March 13. Fifty per cent of Dutch calves, many intended for export, are still injected illegally with a synthetic hormone in spite of warnings that it is a threat to public health and could stimulate cancer, an Arnhem court has been told. The hormone is given before slaughter by cattle fanners to speed up the fattening process and to improve the appearance of the meat The practice was outlawed in 1961.
