Super League Soccer Tourney Urged

Their suggestion, made at an International week-end roundtable on soccer's future, will be put to the European Football Union and F.1.F.A., the sport's ruMng body. As a flrst step towards a

super league, delegates suggested that the European Cup should be reorganised into pools for the early rounds. Teams could be divided into groups of four, with each team meeting the others home and away.

In the past, there have been tentative proposals for a European championship, but they never got anywhere because of the enormous problems involved.

Clearly, top countries such as Italy, Britain, West Germany and Spain should have more representatives than the small soccer countries. The questions which have been asked are: how many teams, which clubs, would competing teams withdraw from their own national championship, how would promotion work?

International officials, as well as clubs, were represented at the conference, which had the approval of the European and international bodies.

Among the clubs represented were Milan and Juventus (Italy), Real Madrid and Barcelona (Spain), Benfica (Portugal), Anderlecht (Belgium), Feyenoord (Holland), Manchester United (England) and Dukla (Czechoslovakia).
